God i'm hungry for a Big Mac

I was in one local to work when the sewers flooded the whole kitchen/serving area. They kept on serving... I left!
My mate, who worked there about 10 years ago, said that the hygiene rules were really strict- but he thought nothing of picking up a burger he'd
just dropped on the floor and putting it in a bun as accounting for the wastage was too much hassle.
As for the film- if it encourages a few people to think a bit more about what they're shovelling into their gobs then so much better. If for no
other reason than the saving to the NHS from unhealthy eating related illnesses!
I used to be an infrequent user of Mickey D's and Billy K's. But since seeing SuperSizeMe last September, with the help and support of
family and friends, I've been clean ever since!
Haven't drunk Coke or Pepsi since then either. After I saw that scene at the beginning where he vomits and he's got that (what can only be
called) *bucket* of Coke with 42 or something bloody teaspoons of sugar in it!
I used to drink a small 0.5lt bottle a day with lunch plus the occasional can and giving that up has been really hard!
If nothing else it's meant my teeth are noticeably whiter!!!
cheers,
James

The problem I have with MacD's is the marketing to kids, when my stepdaughter was younger she would always want to eat there 'cos of the
toys. Now she's older (11) and eats a really balance diet, she can't stand the stuff.
The other thing is the way they 'hide' sugar in nearly all the savoury food - I think he said there was only 6 things on the menu without
sugar
Saying that, I had a 1/4 with cheese the other day cos I was desperately hungry and there were no other options and it was bloody loverly - but if
will probably be another 3 years before I go in there again.
It's food JUST for profit, with no interest in actually providing decent food to people - get them addicted and keep selling to them, as was
said on the film, what's the difference between this and tobacco?

It is really addictive stuff. I've never taken my kids there because a) My youngest is diabetic and the food at McD's is at best
nutrionally inert and at worse would make his head spin round and explode and b) Once you get used to the 'hit' of the sugar and
saturated fat (which I will admit tastes great), then trying to turn them back onto 'proper' grown-up food is practically impossible.
I've told the kids (elder ones) what I feel about the place and their targeting of children, but encourage them to go when their friends have
parties but to be fully aware of what's going on around them.
I have friends who's kids just shout "MacDonalds! MacDonalds!" etc when they're hungry. Turning the trip onto a treat is one
of the most awsomely bad peices of parenting you can do! And people wonder why their kids only want to eat crap? When I was a smoker I craved tabs,
now I'm an ex-smoker I still get the pangs once in a while. I think this sort of food (from whatever branded outlet) has the same effect.
I saw a Panorama about the place once (it was 1995) and the difference between my definition of meat and their definition was so broad that I've
not been back since.
Grrr. Anyway, that's off my chest now. If you want to go, then I wish you well.
Cheers,
Neil.

When at college, the local Macys was very adictive (good job I only spent 1 or 2 lunchtimes a week at college). The most adictive part though was the
game cube in the corner, so fortunatly more time was spent making eyes square than spent eating.

8pm then ducks for a close till 3am) bit of sleep then college for 1pm the next day. And bigmacs for breakfast from the night before.

Going to McDonalds is a nice surprise! Every time I go, I never know what I'm going to get. The employees speak very little English, so opening
my bag of food is like unwrapping a gift on christmas morning; I never know if I have gotten what I asked for .
It's okay, I get even when I go through the drive-thru and order three or four large waters. And yes, they do provide them at no charge .
I'm still not sure what's going on with the recruiting, but the McDonalds employees hail from Latin America, and the Wendy's
employees tend to be from india. I think something fishy is going on with their overseas recruiting, but I just can't prove it.
