Modified Transit and MOT etc

I have a few van based questions as I am considering a change of transport!

Once the 7 is finished I will have some fun road transport, and my girlfriend has nice little corsa for going out/on holiday in. I need something to shift my grasstrack special around in and my car trailer is getting long in the tooth, as is the careworn XR4x4 that tows it!

I am looking at transits, but have a few questions, firstly, where do I get a transit 190 LWB twinwheel MOT'd?

Second, how do I insure a beavertail transit as private transport?

Third, beavertails are like rocking horse sh1t, and I am thinking about getting a chassis-cab and putting my own beavertail body on it or modding a tipper/dropside van, how do I go on with MOT and insurance on this?

If I lengthened the chassis, what do the MOT people think?

I am actually considering getting a crewcab tipper and putting a short beavertail on it (actually maybe even lengthening the chassis, seen it done plenty of times in race paddocks!) to take the grasser, and then using a towing dolly for any full sized cars that I need to tow.

Any ideas etc, I really don't know much fact-wise when it comes to vans etc.

This is a beavertail.

I've just sold a crewcab twin wheeler to a bloke from Hull, he's putting a beavertail on for his Nova grasstracker. If it is above 3.1tonnes you'll need to have it tested at a class 4 station.

Insurance. Nowich Union are pretty cheap for van insureance and have a non-business use option. I should imagine most proper insurers will be able to help (i.e. probably not any of the cheap ones!).

Co-op

They were the only ones who'd insure me for my Nissan Vannette with side windows for private use. Everything under 2.5ltr diesel is lumped in together so it's classed with Fiestas and such.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
