I have seen people selling log book etc with the engine/ gearbox etc. For use in kit cars mainly to get age related plates... Not so sure about the legality of either TBH.

Yes but.

Might be legal if he states they are collectors items only, not for registering a car. Land Rover and Mini log books come up in ad mag quite often to get tax exempt status.

I would have thought that if the car no longer exists then the log book V5 should have been returned to the DVLA to notify them of a scrapped vehicle.

Someone was selling the complete identity of a Sierra Cosworth including V5, old MOTs and tax discs and a service book with history. Basically a do-it-yourself ringing kit
