Are you a liability?

OK - so off the back of the recent speed camera thing, how many points have you got/had in the last three years

FOR SPEEDING ONLY!

I've not included age as I assume most on here are of a 'certain age'

Caught once in 35 years - 60mph in a 30mph road, on a motor-bike! (15 years ago). Still only ended up with a "S30" and a fine, which amazed me - nowadays I'd be banned for a while...

More due to me driving on roads that don't often have speed traps, than to me driving nice and slowly!

It can only be a matter of time ..........

With all the cameras out there even the most careful driver is at risk of falling foul of one sometime.

All clear here, now. Got 4 for 97.75mph on the M6 when I was 21 (in the bosses BMW 5 Series), then 3 in 2001 for 95mph on the A69 (in my brand new co car (had just finished running it in)).

My wife just bought me a copy of the AA Atlas with the Scamera Positions in it, so that should help.

Recently got my first ever 3 pointer. Well - december last year actually - but it still stings.
Caught doing 38 in a 30. The 30 zone in question was at Muirhead on the north of Glasgow on the A80. This road is dual carriageway and is the main road north out of Glasgow and has no schools, houses or anything else on it.

My fault for taking my eye off the ball and getting done, but I do question the validity of the camera position.

I look forward to getting these points back off again.

The reason that the percentage of new speed cameras dropped from 33% down to 1% is not because the police don't want any more of the damn things so much as it's that theres no more room on the side of the roads to fit any new ones into!

4 roads with 5 miles of my house have 2 cameras within 50 yards of each other!

Put in a complaint about mine but still got the points.

late at night on an empty dual carraigeway (doing 84mph - on cruise control) when some eejit comes right up to my bumper and starts hassling me (so close i couldn't see his headlights!) follows me for 3 miles like that, me trying to pull over and get out of his way - I thought he was trying to get me to race him. then he sticks his blue lights on!

complained the next day at the station and gave a statement but nothing ever came of it and I still got the points

I'm only on 6 at the moment. It feels like a clean license to me.

My best total is 15 points. I know 12 is the limit, but my solicitor cited mitigating circumstances.

Very expensive guy but he was the dog's in court.

Ironically this very same thing happened to me in Nottinghamshire when i was about 23. I was returning from a concert at B'ham NEC (Simply Red) and idly doing about 60 10:30pm this car zooms up to within 2foot from my bumper. I slowed down to let him past. Nothing! Sped back up to 70, Nothing. Slowed right down and indicated.. Nothing! Considering I had a car full of similar aged people wife and a mate and his wife - it never detered me - despite all the while he was seriously not more than 6 foot from my rear bumper at any speed.

Finally I'd had enough...

When I got to court... the judge asked for mitigating circumstances. I told him exactly what I previously said - his response was "You accelerated from 50 to 120 mile/hour in less than 1/2 mile!" - I was kinda dumbfounded as it got rid of him temporarily. Then he zooms up with his blue'is on. Bas*ards! he thought it was funny... strangely enough I never. I've never liked cops since!

Oh £350 fine and 2 weeks ban - due to me potentially loosing my job as a result.

Never a 1 for 12 years, bought the scooby doo and got 9 within 6 months.

All on motorways, all doing 85 or less, all by unmarked motors.

Oh yes, and one time, whilst being overtaken - by a Escort. That pig nearly got a good kickin' - just a local arogant little f#!k, not one of the normal traffic boys. That one even got to court, but VERY lucky for me, I managed to get off scott free with that one.

I think its down to the car you drive, as I can quite happily do a ton in the wife's shed and never get looked at twice.

3 points for speeding a few years ago. Gone now which is surprising cos i used to speed evrywhere.

Outside my old school on my motorbike 2 weeks before my driving test. 38 in a 30. Lucky i had slowed down before he got his gun up!!

I once got stopped going through the town centre because i had my front fogs on. There i sat not wearing a seat belt with a kebab on my lap. The police were more interested where i got my kebab from and whether it was nice or not. They let me off and went to get a kebab!!

Bargain!!

My mate was boasting once cos he had no points and we all did. The next day he was late for work and got pulled for speeding. He came off a slip road onto the a14 doing 120. The blokey liked his car so he done him for 90 so he didnt get a ban!!

It is true, if u have a nice looking sporty car they watch u more!!

I had to laugh one night. Me and my mates were driving about (in my gary boy days). 3 of us in 3 cars. My mate tanned it off and jumped a red light. I was at the back and noticed a pig box so i went slow. The bloke went after my mates and saw one of them jump a red light. My mate had pulled into a lay by to wait for us cos we stopped at the lights and the poilce man just pulled in behind him and done him!! The bloke found it amusing!

We usually know where they are

I have TomTom and additional software that warns me of the upcoming speed cameras.

Add to that, that we are usually following some old git on a single carraigeway doing 25 'cos the speedo reads 30

pffff

maybe some times in the no points time in holland 20 euro's

but one time i was getting home back from a client. (i installed/delivered pc's)
it was on an saturday driveing like hell wanted to go out @ 21:20 or something...

sow i putted the vauxhall Corsa 1.2 at his max. (180Km/h /120Mph)
then i reconend the zone from the way to the client..and i pusshed the brakes an bit (to 140Km/h)....then i saw the cam but it was facing me in my face (to front of car) it was then went all came wrong... (still decelerating light braking) then i relyed on an rumour that the cams cant cought you from front...(like they only do in germany)

when i saw flash! pff resulted that the road was only for 80Km/h (first years it was 100Km/h)

well the camera cought me on 133 sow taking of the 4Km/h it was 129Km/h

49Km/h..to much i was very very lucky with it because then you drive more than 50 or 50 to much you have to go to court explaining nasy things.....

soow the ticket came with 273euro of fine!
and an form to fill in in case it wasn't our car/ my dad didn't drove it.

we never filled in that form sow the speeding is on dad's name.

Sow i'm still on 0 points incl. my dad ( in holland only newer licenses have the points system)

pff it was still fucked up...sold 3 pc's for nothing...

Tks
