tax and national insurance?
Friend of a friend came off his bike last weekend. Broken bone and a few scratches but he will be OK.
What I have since found amazing is that he now has to pay for the Ambulance to collect him and take him to hospital and pay for the police to clear up
the spilt oil... and pay for someone to repair the dyke... and on top of that the woman whos house was near where he came off had to look after his
bike till he arranged for it to be recovered. The police would not recover it because no one else was involved.
Go figure?

That's why they sell uninsured loss cover now on top of your policy. If he ignores the bills they don't pursue them very vigorously from
what I've heard of other cases.

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

what does this have to do with tax and national insurance?
when I had my big crash 25 years ago, involving 9 days in hospital, i was billed for the recovery of the car, and the cost of the lamppost I struck on
my way to the tree.
Why would police have to stand the cost of the recovery? The money could be spent on catching criminals rather than free car recovery.
I think that hospitals also can make a claim on your policy for treating you.

Its a year today since an idiot in a euro box wiped me out on my bike.
At the scene there was a military ambulance (accident was outside a barracks) 3 police cars, a fire engine, an ambulance and helicopter.
I'm glad i didn't have to pick up the bill for that lot
Still no pay out from the drivers insurance though

the option should exist for the emergency services to bill people if they suffer expense as a result of someones error - specifically, you punch
someone and break your own hand, or if you drink too much and get ill, or nicked. Obviously in your case john, you wouldnt have had to pay. That
muppet would either have footed the bill through his insurance, or the MIB should cover it and recover it from the offender, if no insurance company
was involved.
ps, are you fully mended yet? doesnt seem like a year ago.
