Too good to be true - ebay scam???
Saw this on e-bay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4574957200&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT
It seems too good to be true.
So sent the guy a quick mail for some details and got this reply:
Hi there
first I want to tell you that I am looking to sell the car very soon, so it is very important that you have the money available.I will not accept
monthly payments.
About the car...Its overall condition is flawless. Exterior is in excellent condition with no dents, no dings, no accidents. The paint is in awesome
shape and the interior is flawless. The car has been cared for with the utmost care.It is in excellent condition and needs nothing but a new
home!Engine works great. All electrical equipment is operational. The mileage stated is accurate.I have it's clear title in hand and it will be
shipped with the car, signed and ready for ownership transfer. All paperwork required is ready. The car has been fully paid, it has no lien and the full
price you will pay to buy it is GBP 4,500.
I moved to Wien, Austria so here is where you will have to send the payment. The car will be shipped from here to your address , at no expense for you
if you buy it for the BUY IT NOW price. The reason for selling is that i am too old (I'll be 67 next month) for a car like this and for any
other car.
You will have to send the full payment to my bank account and i will ship the car immediately as i clear it. If you have further questions, feel free
to email me .
I look forward to hearing from you.
Now, either this is a total scam or the guy is very naive to the scams that do go on. I mean this car and shipping to UK for £4.5k, too risky for me.
Needless to say i won't be touching it with a barge pole and if somebody does i hope they don't get
stung.javascript:icon(' '

As it's now been viewed by 542 people and nobody has bitten yet i presume we aren't the only ones who think something is a bit fishy.
Am thinking about stringing him along a bit - might at least get some sport out of it.
According to carwatch the reg no matches the car

it'll be pics of a previous car sold.... loads of this goes on but often its smaller money so people don't question it as you have done.

RAC gives me this info.
Manufacturer FORD
Model MONDEO ZETEC S TD
Body type 5 DOOR HATCHBACK
Colour BLACK
Fuel type HEAVY OIL
Date manufactured 07 December 2004
Number of previous owners
Last owner change
No previous owners apparently, doesn't mention it leaving the country, but I don't know how that works.

meh...look at the picture of the rear....no zetec-s...just Zetec...which is worth much less and the steering wheel is turned so as not to show the
'cruise control'.
I think it is a scam, however RAC insist it is what he says. Or at any rate, the plates have been photoshopped, maybe to a mates zetec-s.
If genuine, then a real gem.

the point just made above, is that he is using pictures off an auction that finished recently. He doesnt own a mondeo at all, and will undoubtedly ask
for western union payment if quizzed.
the car is real and genuine, but he doesnt own it.

It strikes me anybody that begins a sentence " Hi there first I want to tell you" is spinning some kind of line.
