Silicone Shower sealant
My shower cubicle needs the silicone sealant replacind around the bottom adjoining the tiles.
The seal is very sound still, just that it has some mould discouleration in the silicone itself.
Any tips for
a) Removing the old sealant?
b) Resealing?

Stanley knife should do the trick then it should pull off in one long piece. Mould free silicon is available from all good D.I.Y. stores.

You can buy silicone remover from most big DIY places. It's a thick paste you smear over the old silicone and leave it for an hour or so. You
will then be able to easily scrape all trace of the old sealant off.
I did this on our bath worked a treat. After I had removed the old stuff I cleaned the area up with meths and resealed with new silicone.

When reapplying, I put down 2 strips of masking tape to define the edges
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

marks masking tape idea makes it look much more professional.
Dont buy a 4 or 5 quid tube of sealer - buy a branded 8 quid tube. I used cheap stuff when i fitted my shower 3 years back, and had to remove it all
six months ago as it had black mould in it. It seems to grow internally, and you cant get it off. This was supposedly anti mould sealer.
So use the best sealant you can.

You made me feel a lot better...
Thought it was just me, ours is not wash of mould its actually in the sealer,which was fitted to a expensive bathroom refit about 18mths ago!
I wondered if it was cheap shit, as I have seen far worse showers, relly minging , but the sealer , though falling out is still clean!

Just been out and bought £30 of new sealer, remover, meths, sharp knives etc. just neeed to get the mrs to do it now
