Friends of the Earth Poll
Posted up on another forum.
It was 70/30 in favour of the treehuggers.
It's now 57/43 in favour of tax cuts.

Well - we all WANT tax cuts, but economics doesn't just allow what we want and I'd love to hug a tree, but I've got a car to play

Of all the green groups FOE are basically just nimbys --- take as an example the fact they are the only green group who have blocked the breaking of
ships in a specially made dry dock in Sunderland. One assumes they would rather see them run on to beach in India and brocken up by hand by people
forced to work for a few ruppees a week without any regard to safety or the pollution caused.

I'm not a NIMBY, I've got a car and a tree in My Back Yard - and I like to hug them both.

there was 15 trees in our back garden when we moved here roughly 18 years ago. a few of them went when i was a kid due to me climbing them and giving
my folks a heart attack daily, the rest of them have gone over recent years to clear the land for the new garage to house cars
as for investing more in public transport, could throw billions into it and it'd still be just as poo as it is now.
built a car, built a home, had a family. lost the family, lost the home, still got the car.

I have one tree, two and roughly two thirds cars, and a wife. I'd rather hug the wife, burn the tree and get the two thirds car finished, before
they stick more b****y tax on petrol.

I've got 3 cars - I rarely use them!

If all the lazy boostards round here used their legs or their bicycles instead of drivng their molly-coddled kids a couple of hundred yards to school
or walked to get their newspapers, the amount of pollution, noise and danger would fall rapidly.
In fact, all those mummies could cancel their gym memberships and save a load of time too.
Bicycles are fun! I beat a Rover 75 V8 around the ring road the other day. You can scare yourself witless without feeling the long arm of the law.
As a nation, we are bloody lazy. Everyone's got an excuse. But they're just lazy really.

Roads should be kept clear, so that powersliders can take to them in peace. Why should I want to see Focus's and Astra's nose to tail?
Bring on the fun-motors for our sensory pleasure.
Neil.
