A normal "analogue" CRT TV will be fine for most of us for at least the next 3 or 4 years. By then you should be able to buy a digital set-top box for next to nothing. In fact, you can already get a Freeview box for upwards of £40, though the quality may not be the best.

You can always trade up to a big flat-panel high-definition capable TV in another couple of years when there are more high definition sources available, and the prices for all the bits of kit have dropped to a sane level.

Cheers
Richard

Depends where you live. The first place (some where in Wales) has already been switched off. The last regions (Meridian & London I believe) will switch in 2012 though.

Aldi has a digital tuner with 80gig hard drive to record onto for £99.99 from today.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Pete

I popped into aldi today to look at that, its pretty good as its got a twin tuner too for recording one prog while watching another which the others i have seen dont have.

Its about half the price of the single tuner ones i've seen, including the goodmans shite in argos.

I'll wait for one that records to disc though.
