European Insurance

Hello

I've moved to the netherlands, and i've taken my car with me, and intend to bring the 7 over here when I'm done building it, as im spending a bit of time either side of the channel at present.

Now this begs the question of insurance, as elephant only cover me for 30 days, and thats for a 'holiday'.

Does anybody know of an insurer who can insure me for social domestic and commuting purposes whilst I'm driving my car in .nl?

I've had to leave it locked in the garage for the last week, I know one option is to import the car to the netherlands, but then if I leave again as i probably will in a year or so, I have to go through the same problem again.

Surely somebody must have done something like this before?

Cheers

David

I think if it gets to be a real pita, i'll sell it in the UK. Its just a pain, i've become quite attached to having my mx5, and the ballache of buying another car and sorning this one just isnt worth it.

Surely there are companies who insure foreign cars, i mean, I can't be the only expat taking their car abroad whilst im working on the continent for a while.

*scratches head*

Go speak to Mischa at Speedon (www.speedon.nl) I'm sure he'll be able to point you in the right direction...

Edit: Actually, he may not do - thought you were on about registering and insuring a 7 in NL....teach me to read properly before I type.

If it's just a temporary relocation and not a permanent move your UK insurer should be able to provide cover, no?

Here in Canada our insurance documents specifically state that we have coverage in the US -- I'd have thought it even simpler in the EU.

Cheers, Ted
