Check you credit card statements
I check my statement on my business Barclaycard the other day (don't use it very often so easy to spot anything dodgy) and saw a charge for £176
that definitely wasn't mine.
I phoned them up to get them to check the details on it. A week later I had the details - some company had charged that amount to my card with JUST
the card number. The expiry date was incorrect, the card holder details were all wrong and they hadn't used the security numbers on the back of
the card.
So I called Barclaycard, spoke to a manager and asked how a company could charge my card only using the long number. All I got back was waffle about
how that company must have a higher checking limit so it didn't need the security checks. She told me the amount would be refunded so there was
no problem.
Now I run a mail order company and it's impossible to charge a card without ALL the correct details. I told her this and just got more waffle.
At no time did I get an apology, an assurance it wouldn't happen again, or a decent explanation of how it happened.
Needless to say I cancelled the card on the spot and will just use my Amex in future.
If you're not living life on the edge you're taking up too much room.

Which company made the charge?
Were they a legitimate concern or a fictitious one?
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Seem to be a real one - they probably just put the wrong card number in and it still went through....

Might have been put through one of those sliding carbon copy things when the machine was down - especially if it was a restaurant.
IIRC they just send through the numbers and amounts, the carbons are only sent/inspected if there is a dispute.
