hmmm, good point. i don't think i've ever purposely searched amazon to buy something. I'd usually search google or something, then if it shows amazon have it, then i'll look on there as sometimes buy stuff. maybe only bought about 2 things on there in the past year

amazon are great on sale and service but beware only stick to the amazon site and do not buy of any of the linked sites, amazon have had much grief because they do not vet other shops selling within there own site.

It was one of the first stores I ever did any internet shopping from......so I guess I have been shopping with them for around 10 years...give or take a year .

Not so keen now they have linked in stores as bob says ^^..... Doesn't stop me from looking though, just not as 'sure' of them as I used to be.....

bought a lot of the christmas stuff from amazon + my camera & lenses. Didn't buy from linked stores (simple check, if its available via prime or super saver delivery its from amazon itself).

One thing i liked about them is if something becomes cheaper over the following month & you contact them, they'll give you the difference back

once they were the only place i'd buy from online but then play.com and a few other now well known sites became cheaper and had faster delivery but for my xmas shopping amazon came up pretty good

Use it a lot for book, not much else. Bought some headphones once.
- Inface i even bought a gallon of degreaser through the amazon market place once becuase it was half the price of anywhere else!

Or inother words, not much, but sometimes.

Use it all year round, for books, CD and DVD/Bluray they are my first port of call. Also got some DVD and CD's from American Amazon with no problems.

Regular customer for books/DVD's and electrical. Both Amazon and their partners and never had any problems.

Did the typical bloke thing at Christmas, ordering items at the last minute and everything turned up in time.

Yep, buying and searching and they often come up the cheapest. Always search elsewhere too.

I use it a lot, for all sorts of non-book or music items (like my reversing sensors, complete kit for £10). I've recently started using their music downloads, generally cheaper than itunes and not protected at all. Best thing for me is that they use parcel force/royal mail which is by far the most convenient for me if I'm out when they try to deliver.

I'm guessing that Jon is more interested in whether people have bought from traders that sell through Amazon, rather than Amazon themselves.

I did once, bit slow, but OK in the end. Not sure how safe I would feel doing it again, I reckon I would be looking very carefully through the small print if I wanted to do it again. I would be wondering if Amazon cover payments to traders that don't supply for whatever reason

Jon, thought I would let you know, that on Friday 9th at 9pm I placed 2 orders from Amazon, one was actually a book (The Border Regiment 1914-18) from Amazon themselves, the other, a usb memory stick, was from an 'outlet' store.

The book arrived at 10.30 this morning (12th)!

The memory stick (from the 'outlet' store) is due tomorrow.....I will let you know if that turns up on time.

I've bought quite a bit of 'other trader' stuff from Amazon, and had no problems. They also have an independent supplier in Jersey called 'indigostarfish.com' who have VERY close links with Amazon - so much so that you can usually get free delivery under Amazon's own terms and you don't get charged VAT (I think they're Amazon's VAT avoidance fiddle).

David, just looked at the dispatch notice, and the usb stick is from indigostarfish.com, so perhaps not a 'proper' trial after all! ...ah well!
