Got myself a PX125 Vespa

Well, as kit cars are 'no more' for me for the near future I needed something mechanical to play with in the garage.

So, being an old scooter boy back in the early Nineties I thought it about time I had another scooter again. I was going to get a Gilera Runner, but in the end got a proper geared scooter.

I wanted one anyway as we're getting a motorhome next year and I wanted one to put on the back, and my wife wants to do her CBT (I've got a full bike license) so I got a Vespa PX125E.

Having a lovely time on it, forgot how much fun they are to ride

Of course though, it's not fast enough - I've already locked the back wheel up at 55mph when the engine overheated and seized momentarily. So I've gone and bought a 180cc kit for it and better exhaust, let the upgrades begin!

Going to tart it up over the winter and get it all shiny and fast for the Spring.

So, anybody else on here into proper scooters?

I used to have a couple of Lambys in the 80`s. One of them an Arthur Francis 225 which was far too powerful for what was an intended shopping bike. But fun, yes it was, apart from the pushing it back from every run out, but thats Lambys for ya.

Speaking of those days, does anyone know where one could get mirraflake paint job done or the cost/possibility of chroming a nosecone?

Ooooerrr! A toilet with an engine in the worst possible place. Sorry I've ridden a couple of these, and being a biker at the time thought they were dreadful. Wheels are too small as well. Get a motorbike. Preferably a four-stroke. Mind you if it's like my last motorbike and it never gets to see the open road it doesn't really matter that they're prone to snapping the dynamo/alternator off the crankshaft as well.

Yeah - I done big bikes, had a few Ducati's over the years, but I have to say nothing has every given me more fun than flying around on a Vespa, and I'm FAR less likely to kill myself too
