wtd: road bike
i suspect there are a few cyclists on here so I thought I'd put my feelers out.
First off, I'm very poor.
Secondly I'm after a replacement road bike as mine is long past its golden years - main issues being the crankset, brakes, wheels and frame.
I'm not sure if anybody replaces theirs once the new seasons come out and wants to get rid of their 07/08/09 spec, or if you bought a bike with
good intentions and its now just sat in the garage?
Alternatively if anyone has recently upgraded their wheels and has the old pair lying around waiting to be taken to the skip then I would also be
interested as spokes keep going in mine and the wheels are now both VERY wonky.
It is a road bike/commuter I'm after but apart from that anything is considered.
I have some plans to do LEJoG this summer so could do with something more reliable!

I got a Specialized Langster which I used for my commute and its brilliant. All I added were some clip-in pedals and lights.
Nice and simple, probably done around 10k miles on it and its been great. The tyres needed replacing, but that seems to be the case with
Specialized.
Mines a super ugly 2007 model.

you can get some real bargains on ebay if your prepared to travel, if not head over to tritalk, lots of serious chaps with serious bikes they change
every season, may be a bit pricey though,
wheel truing is only a fiver in most places,

Sorry, slow reply.
Fixed is nice. There is only one hill around here and its not much (a bit of a woosey southern hill), so that helps. It has a freewheel option (the
rear wheel is a flip-flop).
I like fixed it because:
Its simple, its quiet, it just feels right.
I managed the Oxford-Cambridge on it (100miles once I got to and from the start/finish from home), which was a bit hilly and I was broken!
Pick up something 2nd hand from the paper if you are short of cash. Everyone has a bike, but hardly anyone uses them.
