Electric drill wiring
I've taken a 12v cordless drill apart and I want to rewire it (for another application)
Instead of having the usual drill trigger and sliding bar (to select clockwise or anticlockwise movement) i'd like a two way switch (to choose
motor direction) and a button that you have to hold down for it to turn on.
Here's a pr0 MS Paint diagram.
I'm a n00b with electronics so I don't know what this box does. Does it contain anything I'd need to keep or can it be scrapped and
the buttons wired in? The grey tab is the selector switch to choose drill direction, the green box is where the trigger enters (still attached but not
shown in diagram) and the dotted lines show where the wire terminates (on a face that you can't see)
could it even be wired up to just have a switch like this that chooses direction and powers the motor up at the same time?
I fail @ electrics and my brain hurts. ATB!

Does this help?
not as good with MS Paint as some :-)
I have also included a stop limit switch (so you don't need to be playing round with clutches so when your 'window cover' mech is
full open or closed you wont be straining the motor)
Regards
Rob

thanks for the reply, I wish I could read electrical diagrams I'm retaining the drill chuck as well as the motor, it's got 16 torque
settings and it works well in limiting the motor

Your switch is bad, this one is much better.

Yeah, using your idea ^_^ I've got the window cover sorted and the runners, welded up a nice bracket and got the threaded rod, just need to sort
the electrics and I can finish it off. If I can't get it to work though it will ultimately be your fault as it was your idea. ATB!

Aye - all you need is a double pole double throw rocker/toggle switch with a central off position. Make sure it has a current rating up to the
job.

Know where I can get one? ^_^
I'm slowly starting to follow, I just can't follow electrical diagrams. If it's in front of me, or drawn in 3d pictures of the
components then it makes sense but I can't process normal diagrams well T_T
