Had to Open a Can of Whoop-Ass Last Night...

What is it with some people?

The wife and I went to collect her brother from a pub in town last night and whilst waiting for him some tool decides to bang on the passenger window of our car and slaver nonsense to my wife. He was duly ignored and he wandered back into the crowd.

The missus later went into the pub to fetch her brother as he was taking his time, and as she got to the door boyo re-appeared and this time got aggressive with her!

I got out of the car and ushered her into the pub then told him (politely, but firmly) to wind his neck in. He then squares up and I know exactly what's coming... a punch skiffs off the top of my head - I grab him - another punch skiffs off the top of my head and I realise I have no other option. *sigh*, so I tw*t him (hard!) on the nose and he's helped away by his apologetic buddies.

"He's always like this when he's got a drink in", was said more than once by folks in the crowd that had gathered... SO WHY DOES HE FECKIN DRINK! I used to deal with this type almost every-day for a living and had got to the point where I probably considered it almost 'normal'. Funny how quickly you forget how tosserish your fellow human-beings can be when you live in the countryside and no-longer venture into town for a night out! I'm sooo glad my pubs 'n' clubs days are in the past - I just could not be bothered with the hassle of all this on a regular basis again!

Anyway... what's better a CEC or a BEC?

I know what you mean, I used to run my family's after club burger bar.
I've lost count of the amount of times I had to "physically educate" drunken morons!!
It always seemed to be the same 10-15 people too...
Maybe my lessons were not getting through to them?

Neither - a SCOOTZ is best!

Good on you, shame he ruined your and his night. Some people are just idiots, hopefully he'll square up to a bus on the way home and natural selection will take care of the rest.

I feel exactly the same.

I have had loads of invitations to go out with colleagues but always try to find a way out of it because i know that they will get pi**ed and to me, this is unacceptable and i end up feeling sorry for them and sorry for myself to be there when they make themselves tw@ts.

I'm a happily married man I should say before the comments start, though I have heard it all before

I have a couple of mates and family members who "bat for the other team". The wife and I fairly regularly socialise with and go to rainbow establishments.

I have never been threatened, attacked, glassed, spat at, hit with a stool, robbed, beaten up or verbally abused in a gay bar. Which is a lot more than I can say about most city centre bars.

If you bump into someone and spill their drink you're not going to get attacked. The wife isn't going to get groped, you will have a relaxing fun night and go home with all your teeth.

Which is better than ending up going home with someone without any teeth

Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a
car that you are still paying for - in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes
and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it.

one of the many reasons I dont drink... You have more of an awareness of idiots like that and can better handle them if not intoxicated yourself.

As for liam's comments, couldnt agree more about the homosexual club scene. Me, my ex-gf and my mate ended up in Mykanos (dont ask how - long story) on holiday for a week and not once did we see any loutish behaviour, fights or women having a difficult time from blokes. In fact, we only see one single police car the whole time we were there.

I still don't understand how they can justify alcohol being legal and other 'things' not legal..... You don't see people falling out of cafes in Amsterdam beating the ***t out of each other

I know it's the small minority that ruin it for others but still, it doesn't add up to me

With you on that one mate.

I go out in Brighton quite a lot, but if you avoid the one main street where all the chavs go then there are loads of other nice bars and clubs that are frequented by the alternative crowd and I literally can't remember the last time I saw any real trouble. You just have to choose your venues carefully!!

Our drug policy in the UK is soley based on media scaremongering and what the government needs it terms of taxes.

There was a very good Horizon programme last year all about this. Most researchers and scientists agree the the current way drugs are classified in the UK is ridiculous. For instance Ecstacy is class in the same group as Heroin. So what your saying to young people is that the two are equally damaging and dangerous. So they go out, take Ecstacy (as 10's of thousands do every weekend), have a great time with no long term addiction or health problems and then what? Think Heroin can't be any different as it's also a Class A drug?

No idea... just drunk, aggressive and looking for a scrap I suspect. Well he got one in the end I suppose

At least his mates were ok about it. With these things you often worry about them jumping-in and giving you a right kicking, but they stayed out of it until he had taken his medicine and then took him away. One even shook my hand and told me that he had 'had it coming'.

As for A&E on a weekend... bloody war-zones! I remember taking a guy in to get some treatment to a head wound before he was locked-up for the weekend. He was one of those mouthpieces that just continually spouts the "your wife does... " and "your wife does... " crap. It riles some blokes, but I've always been a sticks-and-stones guy. Anyway - we get into the treatment area and he then starts on the Doctor... "your wife does... ", blah... blah... blah. The Doctor kept his cool, told the Nurse to prepare for however many stiches and when she asked about anesthetic, the Doc replied, "oh I don't think we'll be needing any"! Oh how I smirked during the procedure as the squeals rang out!

As strange as it is, I've never understood why people need anything to go have a good time.

The answer to the original questions of why do people get violent is simple, age old, sexual frustration. As Seinfeld said once: "we don't know what we want to say, we only know we want to talk to women". Why do construction guys whistle at the passing girls? "That's the best we've got".

Sorry, can't speak for the poofs.
