O/T - Mobile phone Q
Has anyone had dealing with Virginmobile??
Reason for asking - they are demanding payment for an account, (apparently in my name), which was set up by someone else.
So, the moby no isn't mine, and the account ain't mine. VM have agreed (verbally) that its a fraudulent account, and that it'll be
shut down.
Now they're threatening debt collection agencies, telling credit checkers etc. Hoping to see CAB next week.
Anybody know who CEO is?

A debt collection agency can only come round with court approval, and the one thing they need is proof the debt is yours. Thats a copy of the signed
credit agreement. if they dont have that then they cannot legally collect a debt which they cannot prove is yours. All you need to say is that you do
not acknowledge the debt and that without writtern proof and copys of signed credit agreement, then they can do nowt. They just use bully tactics to
worry people and hope they pay up. Get a letter from VM to say that the account is not yours then once you have that forget about it..

Some bank accounts have identity theft insurance....may be worth setting them on VM if you have it...

Serious? Richard Branson? (Hey it might well be someone else...)
Yeah send the debt collectors a letter (special delivery means legally they got it immediately) stating you have no idea wtf they're talking
about and you have 14 days to prove it or stfu.
Also in this letter you need to remind them that unless the next letter they send is said proof then it's harassment.
Did this to one debt collector haven't heard from them since (about 2 years now) but then we've also done this to a "debt"
from 3 broadband and they've just sent the same demand back...
There are sample letters out in the interspace that'll cover you, just gotta find them cos my missus found them for me..

Thanks for all the feedback, guys.
Having mined thru VM website, I've discovered that they "welcome comments" from the public, which are to be sent to the Chairman of
their Audit Committee - in New York!!!
Further research indicates that there is a Code of Practice Manager, with a London address, who plays a part in VM's complaints procedure.
I'll give him a go, and wait for a response (more in hope than expectation!!).

I think I've just found two of the cushiest jobs in the world.
Chairman of the Audit Committee, ignoring customers via some autoreply thing that looks for key words like "angry" and
"doesn't work"
Then Code of Practice Manager who does the same thing!
