James Blunt Prevents World War 3!

I'm sorry if this has been posted before, but I can't actually believe I'm seeing this...
The BBC reports how singer James Blunt prevented World War 3

Ok, even if the airfield was attacked (which was a bloody stupid order anyway), I seriously doubt it would have started WW3. The whole report is written as if he was responsible for avoiding it, with only passing reference to the guy who told Clarke to shove it (General Sir Mike Jackson).
This has actually annoyed me!

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

If you read the article, he's just quoting the opinion of his commanding officer. It's the Beeb journos who've blown it up out of proportion.

Fair play to him... takes a pair to stand up for yourself like that!

I remember a high ranking Canadian military man giving us a security briefing when we were in Bosnia. He was explaining the political sensitivities of the NATO machine and how each country had various caveats surrounding what they would get involved in and what they would not.

He said something along the lines of... "for example... there are things the French will do and other things they will not do... there are things the Americans will do and other things they will not... there are things that the Germans will do and other things they will not... and then there are things the British will do - and other things the British will do"!

Raised a smile!

I did wonder if the american general would have said the same to an american brigade...

...it's easy to send someone else's army in to fight, when you don't want to take the blame yourself.

I would imagine that James Blunt could easily stop WWIII - he'd just have to promise never, ever to sing again. Ever....
