I havnt heard the first album.
I quite liked the current one, but I think it might get a bit jaded.
Some good lines and real life stuff in there.
an example

i dont like most of their stuff (not really my thing) but i like that 'dry yer eyes'. there was one last year too, dont know the name but
it was funny, some line about a chinese selling 'sh!t in a tray'!
according to my music folder its called 'weak become heros', actually a bloody good song.

Clever verbage..absolutely groovless....
The first song(the one that starts with a low brass section for the bass line ) is awful... I love "Original Pirate Material". It be
havin' a groove on it....
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal labotomy...

You are prob right, but this board has so many northerners on it, they wouls still think brum is south. However, it seems more like a north of london
accent to me - not much brummie in it.....

its not one of the best - but the brass is just a couple of chords cleverly repeated.
I think its 'it was supposed to be so easy'.
Ive not done that DVD thing - except I did drop a blockbuster one of in the quick drop bin at choices once.....

In the first album, he talks a lot about being in Brum - -the Bull ring etc.
Also, the accent is a bit too dodgy to be a
Cockney geezer. You can pick up the odd Brum twang in his speech.
Being lucky enough to work in Brum for just over a year and now being back in the land of the Cockney Sparrah, I do pick up on these things. Sad, I
know.....
Overall though, The Streets do grow on you, The guy may be a No.1 Chav but his lyrics are certainly interesting.

Having originated from north london, I dont think it sounds quite north london, more somewhere between there and milton keynes.
Dunstable rap?

My son just instructed me on the proper way to listen to this (his) CD.
He says it is literally a month out of this dudes(blokes) life. The CD is a chronological narrative. I have'nt had the chance to give another
listen. Anyone??

its obvious when you listen to it that its a story
guy starts by losing 1k quid
then meets a girl
has relationship
strays
gets found out
dumped
unhappy
finds 1000 quid
life goes on
its about everyday life, is funny and tragic too

My housemate has the album and he says its brilliant, listened to a few tracks and liked them.
Mike skinner is from Brum, but has picked up the london accent from somewhere. Maybe he passed through Dunstable on the way down (poor bastard!)

My experience of americans are that they dont have the adaptability of language as we do.
Things like
car park = parking lot
and the best was when I asked for a return ticket at a railway station in chicago.
I was sold a book of 10 tickets as the guy didnt understand. Is a 'return ticket' so much less intelligable than a 'round
trip' ticket. I recon a UK ticket seller would understand........
'your fit and you know it' has nothing to do with working out...... but I suspect a lot of americans would think that song is about an
athletic girl, rather than an attractive one.....
