Another central heating question
We're off to sunnier climes for 3 weeks tomorrow. While we're away we're 'locking up the house' - nobody will be staying
in it, just popping in to water the plants etc.
So the question is, what temp should we leave the thermostat on. It has a minimum of 16 deg on it, but you can overide it. Should we let the house get
really cold, or keep it at a reasonable but still low temp the whole time?
BTW - we have a fully programmeable wireless thermostat and a nearly new combi boiler.
Should be just warm the core of the house, the lounge/kitchen/diner, and turn off the room valves? Or leave them all on the frost free setting?

Check the boiler too, some have a frost protect setting, about 5 degrees. That is all that is needed, and will save a good few bob.....
We fitted a digital/programmable roomstat years ago, best thing since sliced bread for CH. Choose different temps for different times of day, and a
staright swap (ok, new holes in the wall but wiring is the same so no sprky required)
We set the temp to th elowest when we are away, and on the morning of th eday we are coming home get somebody to pop round and set it to normal temp
so we don't get home tio an icebox.

Gonna fit one of those Honeywell ones that will look after the heating while I'm away and turn it on the day we get back - genius
