Anyone know about barcodes?

At work we scan barcodes all the time, so I understand how that works, but -
how do i create and print barcodes? is there freeware that does this?
I also know that there are different formats.......
I have googled, but most of the stuff that comes up is looking for money!!

I have one to create 3of9 barcodes, hopefully it will attach.

You need to unzip the files into your fonts folder (should be in your windows directory somewhere).

Then just open word, type in what you want, then change the font to the barcode one.

The first question has to be, what sort of bar code do you want to create?

there are loads of different formats, 3of9, ean 13, ean 8, errm, can't remember any more its been a while since i did this.

Once we know what, we can find a shareware / freeware bar code printer. Often the easiest way is to get a font for excel.

HERE is a site that I use at work. We only use simple barcodes and if I need a replacement or duplicate for any reason, I use this site as it's quicker than the software

HTH.

I can talk to you about i2of5 if you want. The barcodes on goods in the shop are ean so if that is what you are scanning, you scanner may not recognise 3or9 (or whaterver it is you printed).

there are also these new fangled 2-Dimensional barcodes; you see them on UP parcles and others.

i have tested it on another 3 of 9 barcode, and my scanner works ok.

when i generate my own, it doesnt work. I'm doing a straight character for character conversion.
I just worked out that i need to add one chracter before, and one after the data.
But i cant work out what characters!!!
