Focus dials
Hi.
A friend of mine has a late Ford focus 2003 I think.
When he turns the ignition on sometimes the dials light up and sometimes they dont.
They never cut out once there working until the ignition is turned off.
He was told by his garage that it's the alternator.
But I thought It's more likely to be the ignition switch.
what do you think?

It probably the altenator diode. When mine went on my old Chavalier the dash would spontaneously light up like a christmas tree whenever it wanted
to.
You may be able to get just the diode changed rather than replacing the whole alternator.
