how many people would have bought another?
Lots, they'd have probably bought something else whilst doing it - thereby making the company more profit.
Friend was telling a story about his company / boss. No idea how true this is but the claim is in India there is a drive to make everything last about
a year - this way you have to keep buying it again and again.
As their is a fair degree of corruption (according to him) it means people get kick backs year after year.
If your product lasts 20 years, no one wants it.

Make that +2.
When my back door lock gave up I went down my local hardware store and bought a 5 lever Yale for £27.
Three years on and it's still a little stiff, but I put that down to "running in".
