And if it can't be electrical as said above a nice watch, I bought mrs woodster a watch for her 40th I wish I had bought two of the buggers its
gone up in value by 500 quid in 6years,how goods that, but that's diamonds for you.

maybe out of budget, but what about an F1 driving day? The memories would last a while, id guess.

Many thanks for all these great ideas guys!
I looked at a lot of classic watches at a dealer's shop this afternoon. Saw loads of immaculate 2nd hand watches and immediately wanted:
a Breitling windrider chronomat Only 2 x the budget
and a Rado,
and an Oris,
and a Tag Heuer Carrera re-issue
.... v. interesting.
