If its not too boring, this is the way the other group is run :

I am mailing you both directly as I have already posted a public warning
about continuing this thread.

Please do not continue this thread further. It serves no purpose. There
is room for both methods and, as has already been seen, multiple lists.
I will be forced to remove you from the list if you continue.

Having just read the post that ChrisW put on TOL this morning, I recon its just about 100/1 chance of ChrisW not being kicked off in the next 24 hours.

If ypu dp get kicked Chris, I wonder what a complaint message to Yahoo might do?

If you really want to leave with a bang you had better do it before AUstralia wakes up!

Why bother? You're just looking childish.

I dont recon I was being childish - I just compared and contrasted views on the way both lists worked. However, Chris looks like he's deliberatly on a wind-up. I wasnt.

Thought I was onto a perfectly good point myself. Everyone tells me Peter guy is too controlling and he proved it. But yeah, you're right, I am just trying to wind him up!

Lets see if I get banned eh? Nothing to stop me joining again though is there!

Now I know how people post empty posts!

Actually, there is a way to stop you joining again.

A couple days back, Mr Ogden turned botht eh Locost and locost_aus lists into restricted membership. That means he has to click on your application to let you join. So, if he knows your mail, then your not gonna get back. Then, if you use another provider, its possible to say, ok, no on with a hotmail address. It will just make Mr Ogden even more defensive and restrictive.

Chris,

I'm sorry, but all you are doing is screwing up 2 good Locost resources.

The other list was calming down and starting to be good again.

This site was starting to be useful (and a good laugh).

All you are doing is appearing childish - "I don't like your rules so you can't play either".

From the tone of a number of posts on both sites I'm not alone in this view.

David
(who has just decided that he can't be bothered with this site any more.)

Chris,

What you are doing is childish.

The Other List was just settling down when you decided to stir it up again for no particular reason.

This site was establishing itself as a good alternative, and a bit of a laugh.

Now both are screwed up because you want to play games. You don't like their rules, so no-one else can play either.

Because of this, I'm leaving this site. Because of your crap, I'll probably sign off the other one for a while, as well.

David

(Don't bother to reply - I'm outta here.)

I find both David an ChrisW's actions in this a little strange.

At the end of the day, these lists mean bugger all. Life goes on. My car would still get built. Anyone who has a library, mates and a browser that can search google does not need any lists. Its just nice to be able to get the info in one place.

I think TOL has a lot of faults. It certainly has its nasty characters and it has its real gems too. When I got into problems a couple times, I had lots of supporting mails, and I dont think a single nasty one. A few snide list comments, but only support. Ken Walton in particular is a great guy with a great philosophy. However since the traffic on TOL reduced to about 25% or what it was, i find it less interesting.

All those people building cars witout a list resource, no, surely.....

As far as this list is concerned, I personally havnt really used it as a major build resource at all. For me, I find it an entertainingway to stay in touch with people building cars. If I can help with my experience or ask the odd question myself, all well and good.

This list has been having some good promtional mentions on TOL. This has been seen by the fact that its grown by quite a few members in the last few weeks. They will not stay or participate unless they see some quality.

I think what ChrisW is doing on TOL goes too far, its not just name dropping but its damaging. Damaging to this group. Who wants to join just another 'bitching' session.

David was taking quite a nice part on both lists. Now he's done the typical list member thing. He's thrown a wobbly, posted his epitath and left.

I hope whan my car is finished I will just post a 'bye and thanks for all the fish' or just peter out. However, I can see it ending in a tirade of 'this is what I really think' cos it seems it always ends that way.

This list will continue to grow by getting good links. For instance, google rates sites by the links to it, not how many buzz words are in it. If we get quality builders on here, they will have sites that link here and up goes the score.

If they see the list as just another bunch of tossers cos of all the contrived semi-argumentative promotional quips on the other site, it wont happen.

Look a the members list - and the amount of posts for the top members. We need the bottom ones to grow, and they wont if silly stuff continues.

Not sure why you're blaming this on me - I didn't start *anything* on the other list. In fact, I only went back last week because people had told me my site had been mentioned and of course I'll defend it whenever possible. Also would have been happy to leave it well alone last week if it hadn't been for Ogden telling me what I can and can't say.

I'm not talking about joining again to cause agro, I'm just saying I wonder if I'll get banned for having views different to his as seems to be the case with most of the bans. I'll never ask a question on there again anyway as everytime I tried (before I set this site up) I either got no reply or someone been sarcastic but I do occasionally search the archives incase my point has already been rasied. (and for that I'd need a membership)

Anyway, enough on the subject. Let them get on with it. I stand by my actions and I'll defend this site again if I need to.

You didnt need to defend anything.

You were getting good advertising.

Both you and me were mentioning the list to get it noticed.

I am in favour of this site, but what you were doing was BLATENT self fullfilling prophecy stuff - Get him to ban you so you could then claim you were right - it was way way obvious.

AND I think you caused more harm than good.

You were the one who mentioned a ban, I just said I wasn't bothered if they did. Wasn't purposly going out to get banned so if it seems that way then be assured it wasn't my intention.

Anyway, lets leave it or we will end up looking like the other list ourselves with all this bickering.

Hi all
This topic really annoys me as it seems people are allways trying to estiguish fire with gasoline...
I do not understand why "ones" have to tackle "others" ... if you don't stand them just ignore them.
By the way Big Boss Man, what if you manage to get us Web Sites inside Locostbuilders.co.uk? What better publicity than everyone that still reads and posts in TOL announcing his site as, pe, "www/locostbuilders.co.uk/jcduroc"?
After all, we are all grown up and I'd love to meet some Locost(ers)Builders next time I travel to UK to have a few beers, discuss cars and ... whether that was Kournikova's picture or not. Ah! And also to get help if I ever have to SVA my Locost in UK and then "import" it back to Portugal.

Let us not let small differences get bigger; after all we share a common dream/desire/passion innovated by Colin the Great.
It doesn't matter whether you're Manchester, Everton or Benfica fan, Tory or Labor, Black or White, Timorease or Indoneasian; we are all Lotusers fans an thrillers, aren't we?

Cheers all
Joćo
