Need Honda Comstar (bike wheel) expertise
I'm taking the brake drums out of a pair of CX500 rear wheels (the brake drums will be replaced with machined centers that have car bolt-spacing
for my trike project). Brake drum removal appears to necessitate removing the rim rivets (and probably replacing them with bolts/nuts).
I need to confirm that the rivet replacement is necessary and learn what size/material bolts/nuts I should use.

comstars
In my experience with comstar wheels thry need to be reworked by a pro.
The commonest reason for them failing is that the constant stresses makes the rivets loosen off and they need to be replaced by a wheel builder and
properly ballanced.
Also i don,t think comstars will handle the latteral pressures as well as a spoked or alloy wheel.
If you look at other bolt together rims see how many bolts are used to keep it all together.
thats just my opinion any way.
