something to put my car on!

Hi all,

Im one of the unfortunate few on here who dont have a garage to keep the beast in, my car currently resided at the bottom of the garden next to my shed.

I am sure all of you at some time will have worked on your car on the grass be it a temporaty repair at a show or like me the place you just have to do it and you can all agree its not ideal, oops where did that nut go that i just dropped........exactly as i said not the best idea.

I need to sort out some sort of not too intrusive way of making a more managable area for my car, and to keep the gf happy it has to look acceptable.

I was thinking of gravelling the area? if i want to do that do i need to put down some sort of material like membrane on the grass first? Whats the cheapest stuff to use - it is a locost after all, i want to spend the money on the car not the garden!

I am also considering making a 16 x 10 foot shed, it will be cheaper to make one than buy one but by how much im not sure.

any thoughts would be appreciated.

PS we rent the house so we cant go constructing a friggin permanent structure, the landlord is tight enough as it is i dont want to leave him a few hundred quids worth of shed when i move!

Tarpaulins are cheap, plenty on ebay. Gravel wont help when you drop something though.

Colin,

How about 2nd hand paving slabs (I'd think around 50 for a tenner), get hold of some 1.5" sq steel tube (again 2nd hand) and use that as a frame then cover whole thing in a tarp. Reckon it'll cost you under a ton.

Thanks guys but the word Tarp and my gf's idea of un obtrusivenever appear in the same sentence!

Gravel would be better than grass only a bit mind you, and it wont get all mushed up when its wet.

think this one is a loosing battle, can see this costing me shed loads, boom boom!

try looking on the free adds sites , the garages near here(down south) are almost free if you dismantle them your self !!
