Chevy Cobalt SS, 2008 - Present

Do you guys in the UK get this model? Here in the states it has a turbo charged 4 cyl Ecotec pushing out 260 hp.

I'm trying to find the actual model of Ecotec they're using so that I can look at throwing it into a locost. That would be a lot of go power. Any of you guys pushing that much power through a 4 banger?

hicost's got 400bhp from his 4 cylinder cosworth turbo engine.
Be careful, 260bhp is going to be 520bhp/tonne which is 'a lot'TM

This may sound weird, but the reason I'm asking about these is for the warranty that comes with a stock motor...

I don't think I would mind the 520bhp/tonne

Has anyone had any experience with this motor? Does it look good on paper, but on the road does it suck? Is it a mechanical nightmare?

I have a 2008 Astra VXR and it is a very good engine with virtually no lag, also readily tuneable to 300bhp with a remap.

So now all I need to do is keep my eyes peeled for a wrecked/salvaged Cobalt SS/VXR on the cheap and I'll be a happy camper.

Thanks for the input!
