OT - Anyone fit Boilers in Northamptonshire?
Hi
I think our boiler died and the guy that has come to have a look last thursday still hasn't got back to me with weather he can fix it or not.
I'm now considering just fitting a new boiler (the old one is 18 years old)
Does anyone fit boilers in Northamptonshire? (wellingborough area)
Any good with mates rates?
Many thanks
P.S. (cold showers for a week are not fun!)

New Boiler
Can't recommend an installer, but what I can say is that your existing boiler will be around 60% efficient and new boiler will be at least
90-92% if you have an 'A' rated boiler installed so you should see lower bills.
Make sure your boiler installer has the new gas safe registration and not CORGI as this is superceded, the price should be around £1500.00

You can buy a good condensing combi boiler for £500. Fitting it isn't difficult but thanks to our nannying government you will (as stated above)
need to find someone cerficated.
Some installers prefer using certain makes of boiler so if you buy one in advance and ask them to install it they might take longer and charge more.
At the very least when the quote you for the job check out the cost of the parts online to make sure you're getting a good deal.
It might be worth looking at places like
myhammer.co.uk
myworkman.co.uk
You just post a location, job description and then wait for the quotes to come in. You can see what other people have thought of their work previously
(like feedback on Ebay...)..... Sometimes a good way of getting a fair price....

Amazingly this isn't true, as long as you're not working for gain, anyone "competant" can fit gas appliances etc.
Only if you're working for gain do you need to be Gas safe (corgi) registered.
I'd imagine it'd be hard to argue with the authorities that you were competant if it went up in a ball of fire a couple of days later

Boiler
The rules have significantly changed CORGI no longer exists, however I do my own boiler repairs but am a trained engineer and have more training and
experience than most plumbers.
The work is much simpler than building a car however!!
We all know what happens when appliances are not fitted correctly, install carbon monoxide sensors when your finished
