Vauxhall Frontera Back Elecy Windows

Its my Dads R reg frontera, the rear drivers window has gone down and won't go back up, we've had a dig around and can't seem to find a manual way of putting the window up, the motor makes a clicking sound as though it trying to drive down but doesn't make a sound or seem as though it trying to drive up even when waggling the window with the button pressed, it does seem free in the side guides. Do the motors fail in these and does anyone know if there is a way of manually putting the window up?

It looks like there are a few pop rivits to drill out and the motor will come out easy but the mechanism at the bottom of the door seem a little more difficult to get at, anybody got any tips??

Cheers

Rich

Try swapping the switch with the one from the passenger side and also check the wiring where it leaves the door frame and heads off into the door.

Did think about the switch but the drivers one (for the back)does the same, did look at the cable that goes into the door as the glass was very close to is and probably rubbing but couldn't feel or see any damage. Was getting dark though so play is going to resume tomorrow.

Cheers

Can't seem to get it to lift, can't find any release on the drive to allow it to slide up or I would have, and left them there as a permanent fixture

It'll be the regulator. Quite a common problem. I had a 53 plate one and the N/S/R one did the same (but fortunately in the up position!)
