Getting a Cat D Checked by Engineer.

Really struggling with mobility now, so not able to just pop onto a train and head south to examine a potential Cat D tin-top by myself.

The car that's interesting me most just now is in Halifax (and I'm in Edinburgh).

The fact it's a Cat D doesn't bother me in the slightest, in fact - as far as I'm concerned, it's a positive thing! As long as the repair was done properly, then I don't care!

Sooooo... can anyone recommend a good engineer in the Halifax area who could inspect on my behalf? I could then just arrange payment remotely and get the car picked-up.

Cheers!

Scott

Cheers... forgot all about them! Anyone used their 'inspection' services and care to comment?

What car is it?

Might be worth finding a local independant specialist in whatever make it is to take a look. They're often ex-main dealer people who've set up on their own and know the vehicles to a good level.

I used AA for when I bought my colco - at £ 13 k was about 3x price of previous car so thought it'll be a good move. Nowadays thaks to thieveing bugger brown £ 13k is a couple tanks of petrol

TBH I was happy with the inspection - seemed pretty thrtough - they went as far as measuring paint thickness to spot paiting after repairs, most of which I was told about.

One thing I remember is that the header taqnk looked suspect - I asked AA to look at that in particualr and they said it was ok - lo and behold the tank blew on the drive back the day I picked it up so I guess they are human - I did whinge and get some money back.
