Vintage Racewear Hire

Hello,

Anybody know somewhere where I can hire a vintage style race suit - think Steve Mcqueen in Le Mans vintage.

I'm off to goodwood next week and since I'm turning up in the seven, think it would be nice to look the part and wear a vintage style race outfit.

The alternative is to look a bit James Bond (Think Sean Connery years.) or perhaps the original Thomas crown so if anybody can recommend any outfit hire shops somewhere in or near Southampton that would be great too.

Although as you say it may look nice. If it was me I’d rather throw fashion to the wind and wear safer modern gear.

It’s a bit like my motorbike, I could wear some fancy black gear to look cool but instead wear less than trendy Hi-viz stuff cos I don’t want to end up dead.

Its only for on the day when I'm walking around, the rest of my group are all going in period outfits so would be great to dress up a bit too.

I'll stick to my thermals when i'm out in the seven.

Whippy, for the Goodwood Revival it's customary to wear period clothing.

Is he allowed to say pith on here ?

Tim at the bike shop bought a leather covered pith pot helmet and goggles on ebay for £18, grey with a black stripe and it looks very George Formby.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

ROFL
I do have an open faced helmet (British Racing Green) and chrome flying goggles I /could/ loan you, but would need them back as its what I wear on the CG commuting to work

I have had the name Biggles shouted at me (at least thats what I /think/ they said)

So public opinion is my "head gear" is not modern

I live between Goodwood and S/Hampton and your welcome to pop in for a cuppa and try on of headgear if you get stuck :-)

Regards
Rob
