And with a whole 6months to get ready for the first race....

Good Luck to them.

Not proper Lotus then......
"The Norfolk-based Litespeed team bought the rights to the name Team Lotus...."
"In its new incarnation the team is a partnership between the Malaysian Government and a consortium of Malaysian entrepreneurs and is being led
by team principal Tony Fernandes, the founder and CEO of the Malaysian-based Tune Group which owns Air Asia airline."
Probably be in Norfolk for a year then ship out to Malaysia

As part of its application to compete in the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship, the team has agreed an engine supply deal with Cosworth and a
wide variety of technical partnerships including Xtrac and FondTech.
The team’s future design, R&D, manufacturing and technical centre will be purpose built at Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit.

Wasn't the Petronas WSB race team based in Malaysia a few years back?
Finally back on the job!

It's that well known racing team
Rotus
sorry, but a team based in Malaysia, owned partly by the Malaysian government and the rest by Malaysian entepreneurs ain't Lotus except for the
badge on the nose.....
Although they could have disastrous luck with engines (thinking Lotus twink then Rover Kettle series here) so maybe they'll inherit some of the
attributes...

extract from the FIA
The team will initially be based at the RTN facility in Norfolk, UK, some 10 miles from the Lotus Cars factory. A 50,000 square foot fully equipped
facility, RTN was built by Toyota for its initial Formula One programme and then used by Bentley for its successful Le Mans programme.

Let's face it... they're not really Lotus (other than the name) and they're gonna suck!
Even 3 months ago the likes of Mike Gascoyne were saying it was getting too late for the new teams to get a car done in time.
How can this team possibly manage it in time?
USF1 were one of the early successful applicants and already it's been suggested they're not going to be ready in time for March.
Mclaren and Ferrari managed to not get their cars done in time this season**... and they have about £800m to spend between them!
Cheers,
James

I think i dated a girl who worked for the race team, she still does F2 tyre work for them at the weekend and her holidays are taken up going to the F2
series in spain.
Still - i'll be watching the coverage carefully to see her. Just must remember not to shout "i dated her" when watching the F1 with
the new g/f

Well I for one welcome the Lotus name back to F1....Even if it is a reincarnation of the original and not the fully leaded derivitive!
I don't really count the efforts of Lotus in the 90's as the Original and it was painful to see them struggle into oblivion in 94. In the
same way I hate seeing Williams struggle now.
I wish them well and good hunting.
