Mad Car List!!!

Just seen a few other posts so thought I'd start this one off:

Bigblock Chevy Fiat 127 (driving position in the rear seat as it was front engined!) road legal drag car.

2000+bhp Saab 900, road legal drag car with centrifugally supercharged bigblock chevy in it, ran 8 sec 1/4's, then engine fitted to early audi coupe shell, now being fitted to late audi coupe shell, see www.audiracing.co.uk

200bhp, 400kg, bike engined spaceframed reliant kitten rally car, built by DJ Motorsport, used in british single venue rallies a couple of years ago, forced new MSA rules in when it started beating WRC stuff!

Duncan Cowper's road legal Dax Hyabusa-Turbo powered rush, and his car previous to this, his 400hp cossie turbo dax rush 4x4!

Any class 7 or 10 autograss racing car. Two bigbore, stroked Hayabusa 1600 engines putting out about 240hp each, both in the back of a 450kg spaceframed dirt racing car!! Alternatively TWO vauxhall 2.0 16v's in the back of a Vauxhall Nova!! (class 7 car) Totally awesome to watch. (I race a class 9 autograsser. spaceframe with mid-mounted vx XE2.0 on throttle bodies) GREAT FUN!! (see www.national-autograss.co.uk)
I'll think of a few more but those are pretty mad!

the last paragraph reminded me why i gave up Autograss to race on Tarmac £$£$£$£$ most people would expect it to be other way round !!!

It doesn't have to be at that level though does it!!

I race at club level in a car that cost me £2000 tops to build and brought in a trophy at the end of my first year's racing!

I have done some rallying and some tarmac stuff and nothing touches the autograss in my opinion.

£5 for a day's racing, I'd like to see racing done cheaper!

fair play,

i had 15 years clearing mud out of cars, 3 hour trip for at best 3 x 5 lap races eventualy got to me..........

All that said i met some great guys on the grass, i had my worse/best ?? roll at what i guess is your club Liecster, all the back end/gearbox was 20yds from the rest of the car, 3 hrs later i raced again and never put a spanner on it, i could'nt get near it for "helpers" dashing around donating spares and time,

I just feel with so many class's, are there still 10+ juniors and ladies the day is to long for too little racing, like you i raced in the single seater class's (all 3 of them) and to be scrutinered at 9am and not to turn a wheel till 2pm pee'd me off a little,

great fun though...........

Fair play to you mr Ison!!

I guess after 15 yrs the urge to try something different (maybe even less dirty) becomes more evident!! Yes, Leicester is my local track, and as you say the atmosphere/people are so friendly it is incredible. having said that the atmosphere at most small club motorsport events seems pretty good.

My second year this year in grassin' so we'll have to see how it goes. If you ever watch any I'm L25, class 9 special in green and black (my car apparently was in a poster on the NASA stand at the Autosport show at the NEC, though I didn't go this year so I never saw it!!) usually seen somewhere near the back of the pack at the national events!!
