Unemployment will continue to rise even though the ecomonmyis on the way up. Things generally lag 6-12 months on that front.
Consider we are laying off another 40 people the end of the month as we havent seen any increase in bearing sales even though things are apparently on
the up. We have some areas with less than a days work a week.

Unemployment figures are like an Iceberg. The general public only ever see the bit sticking out of the water, as that is all the government want us to
see. The real unemployed NEVER figure in their propaganda and are cleverly hidden under the 'official' statistics, just like an iceberg
mostly being under the water.

2.47 million is less than the 1980s peak over 3 million, and the population is larger now too so the percentage is less. Not only could it be worse,
it has been worse.

What they mean is the recession is coming to an end for the wealthy.
The rest of us will take 5-10 years to recover from the devastation............

and since when have we believed what the papers say? Anyone can massage and make up statistics to suit their cause. I trust them even less than the
politicians.
Anyway weren’t we all suppose to be dead from mad cow disease, mrsa, swine flew, asteroids, tidal waves…have all the writers from Eastenders moved to
working as journalists to give use more doom and gloom?

I cant see how spending our way out is going to help...surely its just going to put of the crash for another few years, and then itll happen
again...and so on...
all my friends looking for work part time while at uni are finding that all the bar/shop kinda work is taken by immigrants. then theres the companies
sacking brits to employ them. its bloody ridiculous, our government is so busy being pc and helping everyone else that we're getting absolutely
shafted.

Figures for young unemployed always jump at that time of year; Kids leave school. Lies, damn lies and statistics. Why would a newspaper let the truth
get in the way of a good story though?

... but the bottom line is they are prepared to work harder for lower wages.
had on lunchtime telly of peeps (600 thousand ) being on benefits simply because
if they worked, they would be worse off so what is the point?

^ I remember most of the passengers on my bus use to be like that, happily chatting away about how they were working the system with huge numbers of
kids to bring in the money.
Bus drivers can easily overhear conversations btw as the windscreen acts like a huge reflector dish

A friend of mine was trapped by that when looking for temporary work between leaving university and getting a graduate job. He was desperate for
something to do more than anything but found that he was actually worse off doing 1 or 2 days a week on low pay than staying on benefits. Its a
failure of the system.
I've thought about this and come up with a workable solution to the problem. You can be sure that if I can do this, political parties can as
well so we must assume the just don't want to fix this problem. It raises the question "why do we keep electing the same 2 parties if
between them they never tackle the problems?"
