Why ?
Are post office staff having a postal ballot on strike action ?
Dont quite understand as some are on strike already, who's gonna deliver the ballot papers ?

Get this- our local sorting office is full of mail so now they're walking out on "health and safety grounds" due to the undelivered
mail blocking fire escapes.
The undelivered mail caused by their own first strike.
Really does take the pi$$.
We haven't had any RM mail for two weeks now!! Which is kind of annoying because I've got loads of really quite important stuff waiting to
be delivered (buying / selling my home at the moment!!)....

We use the post office for very few items we send out but I do know of several eBay sellers that are falling foul of this, been marked down on those
all important DSR's for postage through no fault of there own, drifting off topic are any regular eBay sellers on here aware of the new system
coming in ?

Sitting here in the collapsing SW economy, still unemployed, depressed, etc.....
Numerous desperate applications to the Gummit agencies/departments for jobs......
There's a vast waiting list for PO jobs, for F%%% sake, let me in, I'll do the job for longer hours and less pay. No problem.

They are just opening the door and laying a great big welcome mat down for the competition to take more of their business.
Meaning even fewer Postal staff needed - more strikes due to redundo's you can see where its going....

Bizarrely I just saw a postman collect his wheely thing and it was only half full. You would have thought it would be rammed at the moment!!
It is a bit crappy that when there are lots of unemployed people about the RM staff are basically pulling a long sicky!!
Then again, if it opens the door for a full and open competitive market so much the better. RM get more and more expensive and the service gets worse
and worse!

whats even more bizzarre is that due to legislation and equal opportunities, some operational workers cannot read or write english!!
I did used to work for them, but got outsourced with the rest of their IT crew.

^ hmm, i wonder why they don't sack all the posties, and give jobs to the ones who want to go to work?

Back a good few years I worked as a postie for a couple of student summers. You would be had a quiet word with if you worked too fast......

Sure ain't a problem round my neck of the woods. Post arrives about 2pm (or not at all if it's raining). And at the moment nothing....

A few years back I was talking to a local postie and some of them were all pi$$y over being asked to work their 8hr shift. They were paid for 8 hours
but if they finished their round in 4 then they'd bugger off!!!...........imagine being asked to work the hours that you're paid for - how
very dare they  ...........why is your mail late - because your postie is being paid to play golf every afternoon

Jeremy Vine interviewed the PO boss and the leader of the CWU last week, asked them both three times what the disagreement was over, neither could put
there finger on it..... Modernisation.... Unacceptable working practices... Bully boy tactics..... Need to be a competitive business..... specifics

No wonder they can't get anywhere in negotiations, personally I think the PO is a fantastic British institution (I always refer to Jack
Dee's comment on stamps being too expensive "well take it there yourself then!" but think between the union and their interface at
the PO they are putting the whole institution at risk

Probably won't strike, it'll affect the bonus scheme i.e. thieving money from envelopes
