very OT - nissan engine codes

Im trying to fix a mates car. Nissan X-trail. 55 plate 2.2 Diesel. Needs new engine and turbo etc.

Would anybody be able to tell me the engine code for it? Ive been told by a Nissan main dealer it is a T30 engine and not the later T31. An engine trader has a YD22 but i dont know what that is (Its also expensive so i need to make sure its the right one).

If anyone else has an engine (must be complete with all ancilliaries inc turbo and clutch, low miles of course) then please let me know asap.

That wasn't one of those engines that was on watchdog a while back was it? The ones where people would be quite happily sat at 70 on the motorway and then suddenly see one of their con-rods punch a hole through their bonnet?

From what i can gather the easiest way is to do 90K miles without servicing it. The main dealer could only find evidence of 1 oil change, probs early in its life so it may have only done 70K without a service.

Cant even get it to fire up now. Turns over but sounds like it has no compression. Timing chain is still in place. Basically scrap. Proving difficult to find a new complete engine for it.

According to autodata there is only one 2.2 engine fitted to the x-trail.
