Shower pump noise - help!
Folks, As some of you have decided i've landed a 'good un' with the current g/f I thought i'd turn to you for help.
She's got a house thats about 10 years old. Lovely place but 3 years ago she had a hot water pump fitted (shower pump?). The thing makes an
almighty hum when running and takes up to 10 seconds to get hot water if you turn on the tap in the kitchen, 3 or 4 seconds in the downstairs loo and
its fine upstairs.
Doesn't seem right to me ....
So, any ideas how to stop the almighty hum? the pump is mounted via flexible couplings and has a rubber base onto the upstairs floor.
What should we do to get the water to run as soon as the tap is turned on?
(One point, i can't dump her as i've just moved lots of stuff into her garage for storage and it took a luton to move it in)

I'm assuming it's a system boiler with a hot water tank and the shower pump next to the tank working whenever anyone uses the hot water.
That pump's going to get a fair bit of use!! If it's a combi you shouldn't have (or need) a shower type pump.
Could be the bearings are knackered on the pump due to the amount of use it's had. Depends on the type. Some cheap pumps don't last that
long before making a racket or breaking....

Has the hot water tank got the dual outlet on the top? it has a long reach for the shower to get water from lower in the cylinder, so if a tap is
switched on, it does not effect the shower...

IMHO... from experience shower pumps ARE noisy.....
The latest one I installed is sat on a huge concrete block... with some big rubber feet... and its still noisy... even with flexi pipes it still
transmits noises through the pipework... we just live with it.....
