i beleive it does. i think someone mentioned it on here last week or so

might wait a year and see what i could pick up 2nd hand, im looking for a mid sized diesel, focus, golf, astra size, some thing a bit sporty but with
good economy

never sure about buying a brand new car. the value you lose as soon as you buy it etc.
i quite like astras. hired a diesel astra van last year. was actually really impressed by it. drove real nice

Golf GT TDI, Leon FR TDI or Skoda VRS Tdi.
The subaru diesel isnt a great engine

anything with a cdti 1.9 16v (vauxhall, saab, alfa) will pritty much blow poo over any dti on the market atm.
so maybe a astra or alfa 159
i couldnt tell you much about the scooby engine as i havent personaly been in one but the spec dosnt look to bad.

Been for a test drive in one, goes quite well but mpg not that impressive, otherwise a good car. I bought a peugeoy in the end.

So how many other flat-4 diesels do know about? As I recall, Commer produced a 2-stroke, flat-6 diesel. However, this was an opposed piston
configuration, so only 3 cylinders. Very noisy!!
Work-in-Progress: Changed to Zetec + T9. Still trying!!

Golf GT TDI - Insurance is too expensive
Seat Leon - Have always wanted one but seems that everyone seems to be getting rid of theirs on pistonheads (am i missing something?) and they all
have high milage
Skoda Fabia vRS - have been really looking at these over the past few weeks but as its based on the VW Polo the boot might be a bit small for my golf
clubs so i have started looking at the Octavia vRS
Alfa's - Brothers had 2 (156 then a 147) insurance was atronomical, nice cars but has the reputation of unreliability & the gearbox in the
147 tdi was horrible! although very nice looking cars,
Peugeots & Renaults - i hate the look of them both the interiors are horrible and flimsy, apart from the outside of the new renault megane but
then it still has the renault interior
Honda Civic - a tad on the expensive side, i have no idea about insurance? But i love the look and the interiors
Fiat Bravo - i do like the look of the new fiat bravo - anyone got one and would like to post their experiences
All comments and recommendations coming.....

does it matter how many i have or havent been in or what the engine is, i just said i havent been in one so couldnt really comment, however the spec
on paper dosnt look bad.

the boxer diesel engine isnt very impressive compared to the latest offerings from peugeot, fiat and VW.
I havnt driven one myself, but a mates dad has just bought a new X Trail DCI instead of the diesel subaru.
The fiesta zetec s (1.6 90hp peugeot hdi engine), is quite fun. driven one of these and was really impressed how gutsy that 90hp is.
Foucs 2.0 tdci (136 hp peugeot engine) is awesome. same engine i have in kitcar. more refined than the VW tdi's IMO.
all modern VW Tdi's are good. still a bit 'diesely', but a VERY strong engine. seat fr tdi is the best car IMO.
the 1.9 JTD and Cdti engines are OK. I dont think there that special to drive, but theres nothing wrong with them. a 150hp astra will be quite lively
i imagine. only driven a 120hp vectra and it was just dull.

You will struggle to find a low mileage secondhand diesel full stop.
I was lucky in that mine had only done 46k miles on an 05 plate.
No major issues with the Leon, especially the later Mk1s (last ones were on an 05 plate). Its hard to find a good one though.
Insurance shouldnt be that bad on the golf or leon, both are insurance group 13. My renewal for a std one with only 1 yrs no claims was £520 from
direct line.

Whilst that is true it is not the important thing. You only need to save the difference between the depreciation on a brand new car versus the
depreciation on a nearly new one.
