I renewed my photograph/licence last month. I had both parts, sent them in with an acceptable photo and basically caused them no reason to have any
grief. It took 2 weeks.
It came back with my motorcycle entitlement still on it!!!!!!!! This is not always the case it seems (MCN).

Online and if you have a new style UK Passport ( with the photo printed ) they use a copy of this for your driving Licence. Cost me £20 and was with
me within 5 working days.

According to their website they "aim to send documents within 15 working days"
Cutting it a bit fine.
Give them a ring and see if the do an emergency service like the passport office.

I lost my counterpart before (didn't use it for 2 years then couldn't find it for a theory test) and mine arrived 3 days after I applied
online for it.

Did you pick up an International Licence while you were there? Most mericans won't know about it, but you just might find one wearing a uniform
that does.

The DVLA took forever to get my license back to me, I still dont have it now. If your hiring a car abroad the DVLA will fax a copy of your details to
the necessary hire car centre. This worked for me last week in Cyprus. Only thing is a small fee of £5.
