strange ebay question

Ive just put a bid on something on ebay in the last few seconds
Someone else has bid the exact same price but the won am i missing something here i have put in a link of the bids i was bidder 4 so how come ive been outbid at the same price

because there bid was placed in time before yours

edit: maybe bid £100.01 next time

yes bidder 2 placed the £100 bid before you did, on the 7th in fact. The other automatic bids between bidder 2 and bidder 3/4 are not shown in that list

Just say you have bid on another but for £80 you will take it, or say you had found same in your local paper cheaper.

or perhaps they use Esnipe or similar .. means you rarely lose or over bid on something - small fee to pay..

Only thing is, if everyone is 'sniping' how is there any guarantee that you will win anyway?

i.e. being 'out sniped'

Never ever ever bid a nice round number!! Always anticipate someone else has been stupid enough to do so, and stick a good few p on top of your bid so you beat them!

Yep I second Goofbay and having a peculiar amount of pence on the end. Trouble is though I have lost out on items because my next bid was less than the minimum increment ie sold for £49.99 and my bid was £50.37 but because the £49.99 bid had been placed before mine the next increment on the bidding was £50.49
