audi sport quattro short wheel base project

Im looking at building a SWB sport quattro as the next project, something a bit retro, that would consume alot of hours and would make a good platform for some proper 5 pot turbo power when funds permit. I usually take a few years on and off to finish a project so am looking to do it with the correct screen angle and as original as possible

Ive found a few good build diaries and clubs but does anyone know of any other links or details

The obvious people to point you at are Dialynx who did a number of SWB Quattro conversions some with serious power. The biggest thing with chopping 6" out of the wheelbase of a normal Quattro is that the windscreen is at the wrong angle. You can always tell a replica because of this. I believe (maybe wrong) that Audi used the windscreen from a Audi 80 and not the Quattro when they did it.

I know that Kim Collins of QST fame has a real Sports Quattro and maybe worth speaking to when you want to tune the engine.

Absolutely true. The Sport Q has the Audi 80 screen.

When I sold my fathers Coupe Quattro on ebay a chap from Holland purchased it to use to build a Sport Q replica. He is using four cars - The Coupe Quattro, an 80 for the screen and surrounding steel, an S2 for the power plant and running gear and a UR Q for other parts. He seems to be getting on pretty well and the car has a CF roof among other fancy panels.

I miss my Coupe GT with it's five pot soundtrack. I also had a 90 Q 20v Sport with the 20v 7A five pot.

Got to say I much prefer the looks of the standard WB car... the SWB just looks too 'squashed'.
