Not to be confused with EEEEEE Fags, the well known Bolton nite spot!!
Or L-Fags, the Barcelona branch.
Or I-Fags, the website.
Or X-Fags, the self help group.
Or Q-Fags, you'd never guess it from outward appearance. .
Or.....

hi mate,

i bought my old man one to keep him around for a bit longer.

He stopped using it after a week with some stupid excuses about an odd flavour.

Id say theyre well worth it: cheaper than fags and even if you can knock 1 or 2 of the real ones off a day then youre doing yourself a favour.

On a serious note, try anything and everything to help you quit.
Spend the money you save on your car. Plan your next purchase to give yourself a target to aim for.
Or save for a holiday.

Can't be worse for you than the real thing......

Sad but true. Worked on too many cardiology and respiratory wards watching the people going outside to get their fix of the thing that was inevitably going to kill them... Still, by that point it's too late anyway....

I'm a bit biased....

I use the intellicig during the day and it does work to a certain degree - I dont have the will power to stop altogethor , charges up off the usb , and does give you a hit, although takes a little to get used to - saved me a fair few quid over last few months

Spent 3 months watching the old guys with lung cancer going outside for a fag.
Now that's properly addicted.
Some of them left in a box while I was there, so as you say too late to make much difference (though the Nurses tend to be a bit less sympathetic).

Dave, just really wanting to give up is the main part. It does no harm to use something like this to help though.

I'm lucky, I've never smoked, but both my dad and my wife did. My dad gave up when I gave him a box of patches for father's day (he used them, but didn't buy any more when they ran out, as me wanting him to give up was enough of a push) and my wife gave up to please her father (who then promptly died of stomach cancer, leaving her feeling that she had to stay off them as she'd promised him!)

Do you have children, or a wife, or anyone at all that want's you to not die prematurely of cancer?

I've never smoked, and will never know the duress on what is percieved as the most addictive drug of them all, so it would be very pious of me to pass judgement on you to help you stop smoking but, in my opinion, smoking is like anything else in life. If you need to live without it for whatever your reason then damn well do something to ensure that you give it up for real, for good. The presence of loved ones around you should be motivation enough, then all you need to have as the emphasis is the aids like the patches, the fake fags etc.

You could not pay me a Million pounds to smoke a single cigarette. If I think the way I do, then you can too.

Apparently the biggest key to success if you believe the american hype type scenarios, is to envisage/picture/believe yourself to be a non-smoker, then if someone offers you one, or you go to a smoking environment, you "don't have one because you are trying to give up", you do not have one because you are a Non-smoker...

Kind of like visualising yourself as a car builder?

Seriously, having lost my mum younger than we should have, due to smoking, gives me little patience for anybody on a suicidal mission to nowhere that they are on. Just leave it alone - do whatever it takes - and appreciate that your family and friends care if they are ever on your case about it.

I tried em they are pretty good but you tend to be forever tooting on them and the atomizers only last about a month.
I found the ready to go cartridges tasted awful so I used the apple flavour liquid to recharge them.
Its easy for anyone who doesnt smoke to just say pack it in, if I had my time over again there is no way I would ever have started.
It suprises me how many young kids you see smoking these days especially girls, you feel like shaking some sense into them.
Cheers,
Bob

Girls think it helps them lose weight. Not true, but it is a perception. This is what makes it hard to get young women to stop.

Different people have different amounts of difficulty packing in. Some really suffer, some just stop. Most important thing is to really want to stop.

I've been told that the best time to kick the habit is when you have a heavy cold or flu as the withdrawal is hidden amongst the other symptoms.

Once you've stopped for a day or two, the biggest problem seems to be 'mates' pushing you to start again down at the pub.

Champix worked really well for me - took the tablets for a week and cigarettes suddenly didn't do anything except make me nauseous and taste foul. You are meant to stop on the tenth day of taking them - I couldn't stand smoking after the first week. Haven't touched one since...

The tablets did make me a bit nauseous in the morning, that passed though and is probably related to washing it down with coffee and nothing else.

I think I was quite lucky when I was a kid dabbling in the smoking thing, my mates dad only smoked Senior Service and we nicked a box of those for our first ever try at smoking. That was a massive put off, I never really tried again after that although I seem to remember a craze going round at school of everyone smoking those coloured Sorbaine cigs with the gold filter.

My father was a Doctor and TB specialist to boot - but could never really give smoking up except in his last few years, but by then it was too late.

Panchos (type of lung tumour) tumour with secondaries took him out in a few months at 72 - not at all a pleasant way to go. He was in such extreme pain for most of that time that not even morphine could control properly.

Watching him die turned me grey very quickly - not only do you smokers do it to yourselves but to your families as well.

Why oh why do so many doctors smoke - you would think they should know better than to set such a stupid example.

The ONLY way to give up anything is to WANT TO bad enough!

Whatever items (or not) you use to help is a matter of personal choice.

Basically its like when I was learning Morse Code. I was told if you want it bad enough, dont give up and you will eventually get there. This was very true and good advice.

You have to give yourself the mindset, and then never change it.

Smoking is basically DRUG ADDICTION to the drug Nicotine. Its hard to break the habit of the actual smoking, and even harder to give up the nicotine "fix".

If you really want to give up, then take some advice from your Dr as well.

I know, I have been there and its bloody HARD to do. I used to smoke 60 a day!! My worst moments were usually several months after stopping completely, when I would think... Just one Ciggy would be OK, as I have broken the back of the job. These were dangerous moments, and started me off again.
It took me about 6 or 7 attempts before I was successful.
I have not smoked a Ciggy for 33 years now. I know if I smoke just one I may well start again. So I wont try even one now.

Its hard to do... start and DONT give up (Err thats not a pun!).
you will get there in the end.
Even cutting down and keeping it down is better than where you are now.

Good luck!!

I didnt know anything about these electronic cigs until it was brought up on here, i ordered one to give it a go, ive been using it for five days now and have gone from smoking 10-15 normal fags per day, down to 2 fags per day since thursday.

It really is doing the trick for me, my other half is still smoking as normal too but it doesnt seem to be bothering me.

i have ordered her one to give it a go so we will see what happens. Im hoping that will help me quit the 2 im down to. Plan then is to drop down the strength of the capsules until im just puffing on the nicotine free ones.

Cheers for mentioning it on here Dave1888
