For the more discerning hair dresser

Having previously owned a Boxster S, I completely 'get it'... wonderful machines - probably the best car I've ever owned!

If this is an evolution of the species I had (irrespective of how slow-burn that evolution may be) then it will be a cracker!

All IMHO of course!

I quite like it, though they are not as quick as my BEC, i have had a couple try keep up with me on A roads while doing some overtaking, i felt sorry for the drivers , they didnt stand a chance.

I like it, nothng wrong with a boxter. Don't understand where the hairdresser label comes from, it will be as quick as a proportion of t he cecs on here and no one calls them hairdressers car, it's not all show and no go.

I'd have one.

Right I'm off to do margerets blue rinse, ter rar!

The hairdresser tag isnt anything to do with the speed or performance, but more to do with it being a bit tamer than the 911 i think. It does still look very soft, but if someone gave me one, i would have one. Not sure id buy one for that money though.

Kindest Regards,
Richard.

Like Scootz, I've driven a Boxster or two. They are truly lovely to drive and satisfy an extremely lucrative corner of the market (assuming you're as efficient at Porsche.) I'd happily use one every day, although I'm not sure about the Spyder roof in this Welsh weather!

I'd lean more towards the Boxster being a styling failure and looking horrific as the root of the derisory comments.

That said, this Spyder version goes a long way towards making it an attractive proposition. They don't quite qualify as locost though.

Saw a 944 turbo project for sale on another forum in the £2500 range, that's tempting, they're a pretty potent trackday car -- and a bargain as most folks turn their nose up at front engined Porsches.

The Front engined porsche sports cars were the best looking ones. I'd much rather have a 944 than a boxster.

The hairdressers car thing is all about the way a car looks. A lot of very decent, small, cheap sports cars are considered hair dressers cars (MX5, MR2 et al). Its just what happens with cars, they all end up with associated driver types.
