Any Ideas whats Wrong ? (Scooter)
Well it was "Locost" We purchased a 50cc Jinlun scooter for one of the lads (I know that they are a Pile of steaming brown stuff). it
has now done 3000 miles and it has stopped working...
last week ed was coming home and it stuttered briefly but continued to run. A couple of days later it once again stuttered and then would not pull at
all. he got a lift home and i went back with him. it fired up but shuttered and would not pull. after a check over of all cables for water ingress it
fired up and pulled but appeared to be misfiring.
looked at it on sunday and it ran well but all of a sudden just stopped. when it runs it runs well (Sweet).
there is fuel.
there apears to be a spark.
I've already replaced the Coil and checked the carb for dirt in the jets.
tonight it would not even start.
possibilities ?
the ignition box?
alternator?
timing?
getting p~~~~d off with it now as you can only get parts online and nobody will work on them.

Could be timing or something electrical, or water in fuel/carb float bowl. If it's two-stroke make sure you've got oil in it and if
autolube check the pump is giving right amount. If two-stroke first thing I'd try is a new spark plug. They're very prone to fouling
plugs particularly in the hands of teenagers.
Of course the real reason why it won't work properly is it's Chinese and probably never has worked properly.

it's a 4 stroke. i though about fuel but he always buys fuel at the same place for over a year now.
i took the plug out and it was wet, as i had been turning it over for a while. when dry it looked clean and i better nick than the ones in the
indy
i'm getting to realise that it was cheap for a reason
electrical seams the most likley problem, only when i have got it running it has been using full throttle settings.

Try using a blow torch on the spark plugs for 30secs to a min then get them back in as quickly as possible and see if it starts, if it does then its
likely ingress of water!

Will give the plugs a go.
also will check the valve spacing to ensure that they are opening.

You need to visist the Chinese bike forum link lots of info on there.
However I would suggest water ingress into the alternator casing it is quite common.
Also Chinese bikes tend to have counterfit spark plugs fitted - yes counterfit and they are Sh*t
They also have poor electircal connections you should have a look over the wiring.
Duratec Engine is fitted, MS2 Extra V3 is assembled and tested, engine running, car now built. IVA passed 26/02/2016

My nephew has one and I had to sort the carb on it to get it running, they are crap but if a decent Mikuni was available the rest of the engine seemed
fine.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

If it just stops suddenly rather than dying gradually then it sounds electrical rather than carb related.
Just a thought but try new plug cap. My beloved Honda CB250RSA= single cylinder four-stroke only ever refused to start once in 50,000 miles and
eleven years and that turned out to be the plug cap which was an NGK one which is normally quality stuff.
If it's usually been left outside it could be damp anywhere in electrics though.

Many thanks, the scooter is normally left out side and i was leaning towards water in the electrics. have ordered new CDI and already relaced the
coil, HT lead and plug cap.
the carbs are duff and i may have now ruined it late last night i may have over tightened the idle jet i'm reluctant to buy another is
there any way to fix. Moral dont work on delicate things when you are angry and tired
Peteff did you fit another make of carb? if so what make and model.
