Right, that's it!! I've decided I'm in the wrong job. I've never got any cash to splash like half of the punters on here, so I must be doing something wrong

I'm off for a sulk.......

... but I live frugally, buy Tesco value food, do not run the gc heating, well not yet apart from the last 3 days when I've been home ill and neither smoke nor drink ....

.... but back to the car, should the mileage be a concern? I have seen them advertised at over 100 k so that is quite a few years. driving for me.

(TBH 911 are a bit out of my price range but I cannot get my R leg comfy under the boxster's steeering wheel - which is effing annoying coz I am not overly tall - 2004+ model had up/down adjustable steering hence I'm forced to look at these, price of those encroaches into 911 territory).

Bit OT but I can't believe much money we've saved since quiting drinking. Both me and the wife used to go out fri sat sun. I conservatively estimate we are saving about 3 hundred a week.

that surely is just not booze? £ 300 is 100 pints total, or 7 pints daily each??!/! or is it on £ 50 rare malt whiskeys?

Questions I'd ask (in addition to all the standard sensible questions about mechanical history, accident damage etc)

Whats the condition of the soft-top? (if there is one)
Can I live with:
- grp 20 insurance?
- £400 annual road tax (I'm guessing there!)
- £200 per tyre and
- 15 mpg

^^^ you've missed oput the servicing - speakin to woner of 3.2 boxster I may be viewing tomorr - said last prorsche service cost £ 500 ... in whcih they did nothing hmmmmm ..........

(know the feeling of servicing with my volvo - a 50 point check list which is FA e.g. check washer level, check and grease door hinges WTF?? i.e. paying for stuff that isn't replacement parts or I could do myself) ... but such is life, I realise it ain't gonna be peanuts.

Grp 20 insurance is nothing really if you're old enough and have a clean license, also it's a T plate so is still on PLG and will be in the low £200s to tax, sod it, go buy one!!!

It's cheaper to run/tax etc than a post 2001 impreza and nobody thinks twice about buying one of them! Parts are dear yes, but go independant on the servicing and you won't stiffed so bad!

^^^ unfortunately what you say is true - the only good thing about being an old duffer been comparing meerkats etc and if they are to be believed, 911 is around the £ 500 ish fully comp, about £ 100 than 2.7 boxster . .... I rang up the insurance peeps =2geher = and they are able to do the 2.7 boxster for under £ 500 under some weird classic porsche scheme that uses the same no claims (13 yr) as the main driver .... so all in all makes it very tempting ......
