ebay.
ordered some cheap hosing last week,
add
aswell as a load of other bits, everything arrived really quickly except this hosing, so emailed the guy and this was the response
"Dear 55555anthony,
Dear Sir,
Sorry to make you waiting.
We have checked with our logistic team, and since the item was out of stock
in UK last week, they have arranged DHL shipment from our manufacturer in Hong Kong.
But due to flight delay as explained by DHL, it may arrive at Colchester on next Tuesday
instead of Friday as planned.
Once we received the shipment, we will send the item to you by first class mail.
If you hope to check the shipment status,
you can use tracking number and link below:

not so much cheeky, more very helpful and pretty good.
unless i'm missing something here?
yes, ideally if its listed on ebay they should have it in stock, but it wasn't so they're doing everything the can to get it to you

i suppose there could be any number of reasons for that, but yeah, its not ideal.
still, they're getting it to you asap, and its not costing you any more as far as i can see. i don't think its cheeky, more of an
oversight of their stock levels.
by the looks of his email, he's in honk kong and handles all the ebay sales, he may not necessarily know the stock levels in the uk
however, i on the other hand, bought a pair of cerwin vega speakers from a cerwin vega dealer, for £320, on the 6th nov. that day they phoned to say
they weren't in stock, and they'd have them early the next week. still waiting and the price has gone up to £400.... i still get them at
the old price, but it means i can't tell them where to go and get them elsewhere

If it was a company using a UK eBay account but actually "dropshipping" from HK they'd get a neg from me. But looking at their
feedback there's nothing mentioned about shipment from HK (even though the email seems to have been written by some who speaks English as a 2nd
language).
It could actually be that most rare of eBay excuses, the truth
A bit cheeky taking payment for something they don't have in stock but it could be just a mistake...

Another possibility is a Hong Kong immigrant who is using his contacts / suppliers back home to run a business from the UK.
Personally i think the message is fine - they've run out of stock and he's informed you pretty clearly that they are resolving the issue.
Inconvenient to you maybe with the delay but i think you're pretty sure to get your bits as indicated.
As an aside - i'm now much more confident dealing with ebayers from HK / China / Japan than i am with UK sellers!! Another who has only had
great service from foreign traders
