Anyone speak spanish? What does this mean? I tried google translate but I'm wondering if there was something lost in context.

cool, that makes sense. I think
Are they saying that older machines are not as as good as those newer ones in question?

I don't think that can be determined from that one statement in purely language terms Liam - if it were you or me that was saying it, then
usually the preference would be to the solidness of the older machines and the build quality, if I were to make a guess based on that statement, I
would say that they were referring to the newer machines being of superior quality!
Hope I'm right, I've never learnt spanish!!!!
ETA - Just to clarify, when Foxxie commented, I agreed, but neither of us said that the newer machines were better because the word older is used, but
the word newer, is not used. There is just a reference to the fact that the machines, here (maquina AND aqui) are not camparable to older
machines...
I still stick to what I said above though!

I agree with Steve here,.......not knowing the author, or indeed the context, I would expect to see.....
'las máquinas más viejas son más superior que los más nuevos'
(Translation of above.....
'the older machines are more superior than the newer ones....' )
If he meant that the older machines were superior......
Just my opinion of the given info......

What machine more old? Not something to buy from them here.
Compran/comprar is buy/bought.
Mas is more.
con is with.
And of course Que (a key) is what. As said by manwell when being slapped by Basil.

The story of my life in this forum!!
Not even the threads where I can be of any help, i can answer in a timely manner.
There is a couple of more or less accurate translations as the original doesn´t have question or exclamation marks and there´s a mixup of plural and
singular and also first part is time related and second part is location related.
First phrase;
a) What an old Machine!
b) That´s an old machine.
Second:
a) They can´t be compared with the ones (we have) here.
b) No comparison with the ones here
HTH.
PS: TOEFL score in 1988 590/660

I still can't figure out what they're on about on here half the time, so you've done well! That TOEFL is not an easy test either.
Most Anglos couldn't do anywhere near that well.

HEHE,
I posted that just because sometimes somebody would ask for credentials.
I think my English has improved a lot since that date.

Don`t trust google translate, when doing a website for my parents, :
"a house for rent, for a minium of 3 weeks"
Google Traslation
"bike hire for a minium of three weeks"
