Lightning Snow Storm
Cool... never experienced one before in all my years on the planet!
Quite bizarre!

Nope... I tried once before to get some snaps of a 'normal' lightning storm, but missed the flashes every time (and that was with an olde
fashioned point and shoot film camera... can you imagine trying it with a 'it-takes-me-ages-to-focus' digital!

It's not long stopped Robert... the sheet-lightning was illuminating the sky which created a weird effect against the snowfall!

You need to use the 'bulb' feature on your camera (if it has one). This keeps the shutter open all the time you have your finger on the
button, then closes it when you release as the lightning flashes. Alternatively, you need the luck of the gods!

I took these some years ago with a Fuji S602Z which had a "last 5 shots" feature. You
could keep you finger down on the shutter and it would keep taking pictures at 5 fps into the internal buffer, then save the last 5 when you released
the shutter. I guess any half decent digital SLR will have a similar feature.

My camera maybe does, but I can't remember the last time I actually read instructions for anything!
Probably not scratched the surface of it's abilities!

its one of the Canon PowerShot S5** IS ones according to the pic so it should be able to do it
if you can't wait for more real lightning to practice on, head along to crystal rig the next time there is a bit of wind - last time the tempary
towers fell down and 275,000 volts makes a few sparks
