TV broadband and phone
Guys and Gals,
Im currently with Virgin for all 3 of the services and i have
Free evening and weekend calls
Basic Tv
2mb BB that was upgraded 'for free' to approx 10mb when they had a region wide upgrade.
I am paying approx ££45-50 per month for that lot and that seems steep to be honest, whatya think? - we dont use the phone a lot.
The reason we are with Virgin is because
A) the viring line was already in the house when we moved in
B) we dont have an external tv ariel
C) we like the cacth up tv on demand facility.
I find it hugely confusing looking through other providers websites as to whats on offer at what prices etc.
Caqn anyone offer any advice as to what they use and how much they pay etc etc and if it might be suitable for me?
I do have a BT line here but it has been 'turned off'
Thanks
ATB

we pay a similar amount for the XL package...you sure you can;t call them up and ask for an upgrade for free or you will go elsewhere?
Remember BT charge you to reconnect!

I'm with Virgin and we have the following for approx £62
XLTV with V+ Box
Extra box for upstairs
10Mb BB (supposed to be getting upgraded to 20Mb at some point)
Anytime 400 Phone (phone literally anywhere at any time for 400 mins a month) excluding Thuraya and satellite phones and usual premium rate stuff.
The phone thing is worth it's weight for us as her parents are in Italy, mine are in Glasgow and I work in Saudi so without it it could be an
expensive phone bill.
My contract is up soon so I might be renegotiating, especially as we plan to move house.

I have an external aerial, but it isn't an expensive item tbh.
Say £50 for the aerial.
[edit: Freeview PVR = about £60-70 to buy]
Post Office phone = £10 a month (automatically includes free evening & weekend calls)
O2 8MB unlimited broadband = £10 a month (friends & family)
And that's it. Totals about £30 a month including the kit. I used to be a Virgin customer btw. IIRC they tended to improve their offers if
you threatened to cancel at the end of the contract...
Does that help?
Francis.

I'm moving from sky next month and pay a similar amount to what you pay, think the virgin is £2 more for the comparable service. Don't
even think about taking sky broadband, can't speak for other but mines the sh1tist of the sh1t.
Cheers
Rich

We have just joined virgin, got v+ in lounge upstairs - normal cable box downstairs in dining room, wireless broadband and phoneline all for 45-50
quid per month, its about a tenner cheaper than we were paying with bt/sky.
Managed to get free installation too - we are happy with it so far because our sky tv picture used to freeze up at the mere glimpse of rain or wind
outside, they also shafted me when i introduced a friend to sky so i called them and cancelled it, virgin were spot on from the 1st phonecall.

Sky's supposed to be winner best provider recently.
They can even provide you with the phone line so you dont have to go back to BT.
Mum pays £50 per month. Thats with tv inc movie channels, sky broadband, and telephone with free calls. and phone line rental
